# Costume converter

Your headgear sits in one of three slots, and so does everything else you might want to wear there. The costume slots sit beside them. Put a hat in a costume slot and you keep the look without spending the slot that carries your stats.

The **Costume Converter** at Prontera `146,169`, between the Cash Exchange and the Card Remover, turns a hat you own into its costume version.

### How to use it

1. Wear the hat or garment you want to keep the look of.
2. Talk to the Costume Converter and pick the slot it is in.
3. The menu names what you get back before you agree to anything.
4. Pay **1,000,000 zeny**. The costume lands in your bag, ready for the costume slot.

### What you give up

The NPC uses up the original hat, and everything in it goes with it:

* The refine. A +9 hat becomes a costume with no refine.
* Cards and enchants.
* Random options and enchant grade.

None of it comes back, and you cannot turn the costume into a normal hat again. The NPC asks twice when the item is refined or carded.

Convert a spare, not the hat you are wearing for its stats. A costume of the same hat looks the same on your character.

### What it will not do

| Hats kRO never made a costume of       | There is no item to give you. The menu says so before you pick        |
| Weapons, armour, shoes and accessories | Only upper, middle and lower headgear and garments have costume slots |

A hat that is bound to your account gives a costume bound to your account.

You can convert about two thirds of the hats on the server. If yours is not one of them, the menu says so when you open it, and it charges you nothing.
