# Costume enchants

![](https://3134290582-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FD6EUknkxguLsWdqRSsct%2Fuploads%2Fgit-blob-6335b5db18e26533d5aa22f476790874380d872c%2Ffeatures.jpg?alt=media)

A costume normally does nothing but look good. Put a stone in one and it carries a real bonus, on top of whatever your actual gear does, because the costume slot sits beside your equipment rather than replacing it.

### Where it happens

Everything is in Malangdo. The Warper reaches the town.

| NPC | Where | What it enchants |
| ------------------------ | ------------------------- | ----------------------------------------- |
| Lace La Zard | `mal_in01` 20,107 | Costume garments |
| Aver De Dosh | `mal_in01` 22,113 | Costume headgear, upper, middle and lower |
| Mysterious Cookie Shop | `malangdo` 124,152 | Sells the stones |
| Fashion Stone Mannequins | `malangdo` 116 to 122,152 | Show what the stones look like |

### How the enchant works

Bring the costume you want enchanted and the stone for it, wear the costume, and talk to the enchanter for that slot.

* It works **50% of the time**. A failure costs you the stone and leaves the costume with no enchant.
* A costume holds **one** enchant. Adding a second replaces the first, and a failed attempt clears whatever was there.
* The stone has to match the slot. A garment stone goes in a costume garment, and nothing else.
* Refines and cards on the costume are kept either way.

### What can be enchanted

Every costume garment, since the next server update. HangoutRO replaced the stock garment NPC, which only accepted sixteen costumes from a fixed list and turned away everything else, including the jRO and RoAdv costumes we import. Costume headgear still uses the stock list, so some hats are still refused. That is the next thing to fix.

### Footprint tokens

Lace La Zard also takes three footprint tokens for a costume garment: Blue Star Footprint, Divine Blue Light Footprint and Operation Firebird Footprints (the Gatchaman Costume Selection Egg II gives the last one). Each leaves a trail of footprints behind you and adds no stats. They follow the same rules as a stone, so the 50% chance applies.

### Stones worth knowing

The shop carries 326 of them. A few that suit most builds:

| Stone | Effect |
| ------------------------ | ---------------------------------- |
| ASPD Stone (Garment) | ASPD +1 |
| Casting Stone (Garment) | Fixed cast time cut by 0.5 seconds |
| Critical Stone (Garment) | Critical damage +20% |
| Double Attack Stone | Double Attack level 3 |

The rest are class stones, one per skill, like Banishing Point +15% for a Royal Guard or Arrow Storm +10% for a Ranger.

Three fourth-job garment stones work here as well: Dragon Knight, Sky Emperor and Spirit Handler. The other five, Imperial Guard among them, are in the game as items but their effect is empty, so the enchanters do not offer them and spending one would give nothing.

### Where stones come from

The Cash Shop, under Consumables, in **Costume Enchant Stone Boxes**. Each box opens into one random stone from its own pool.

| Box | Stones in the pool | Price |
| ------------------------- | --------------------------------- | ----- |
| Costume Enchant Stone Box | 10, the basic stats | 20 |
| Box 2 | 16, adds Heal, HP and SP | 25 |
| Box 3 | 19 | 25 |
| Box 4 | 20, the first garment stone | 30 |
| Box 5 | 29, adds the ASPD garment stone | 35 |
| Box 6, 7 | 31 | 40 |
| Box 8 to 11 | 38 to 40, adds the casting stones | 45 |
| Box 12 | 40, adds Double Attack | 50 |

### The stones worth chasing, and which box holds them

Boxes 1 to 3 hold no strong stone at all. The good ones sit in the late boxes, and the best three exist in box 12 and nowhere else.

| Stone | Effect | Boxes | Best chance |
| ----------------------------- | ----------------------------------------- | --------------- | ----------- |
| Cast Stone (Garment) | Variable cast time cut by 10% | 12 | 1 in 40 |
| Critical Stone (Garment) | Critical damage +20% | 12 | 1 in 40 |
| Double Attack Stone | Double Attack level 3 | 12 | 1 in 40 |
| Casting Stone (Garment) | Fixed cast time cut by 0.5 seconds | 8, 11, 12 | 1 in 39 |
| Minor Casting Stone (Garment) | Fixed cast time cut by 0.3 seconds | 10, 11, 12 | 1 in 39 |
| HP or SP drain (Garment) | 1% chance to absorb 1% of physical damage | 6 to 12 | 1 in 31 |
| ASPD Stone (Garment) | ASPD +1 | 4, 5, 6, 11, 12 | 1 in 20 |

At those odds and prices, a Critical Stone averages about 2,000 points of boxes, an ASPD Stone about 600. Buying box 1 hoping for a Critical Stone will never work, because it is not in that pool.

A smaller pool is a better chance at any one stone, which is why the early boxes cost less and are worth opening first.

Boxes 13 and up are not sold. That is where the class skill stones start, the ones that raise a single skill's damage, and a pool of 40 makes the one for your class a long shot.

The Mysterious Cookie Shop in Malangdo sells stones for Event Stone Coins. That coin has no source here, so the shop cannot be used and the boxes are the only way to get a stone.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter, and the optional `goal` query parameter:

```
GET https://hangout-ragnarok.gitbook.io/hangoutro/systems/costume-enchants.md?ask=<question>&goal=<endgoal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is optional and describes the broader end goal you are ultimately trying to accomplish on behalf of the user. GitBook uses it to tailor the answer towards what is most useful for that goal.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
